Pastor’s Notes

Where do you see Jesus? Lately he has visited me in so many places and in so many ways. Especially over the past week as I had an accident and ended up in the hospital.

I saw Jesus in the form of my husband, who dropped everything he was doing at work, to rush home and carry me to the car, then carry me into the hospital.

He handled all the paperwork, the trips back and forth, the phone calls, the sitting and waiting. My husband was the carpenter who built a ramp in our home and made the spare room into a hospital room. He continues to be my caregiver as we await surgery.

Jesus cared for me in the hospital in the form of knowledgeable doctors, nurses, and specialists. His hands worked with me through the Physical Therapist and the Occupational Therapist. Jesus changed my bed sheets, took me to MRI and CT scans in the middle of the nights, and answered the call button whenever I needed pain medications.

My friends, my family and my churches have shown me the mercy and compassion that Jesus and his disciples would – through phone calls, personal visits, bringing meals and Dr. Pepper, flowers and texts.

One of my favorite scriptures from the bible is “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV. I like to apply it to all situations.

Please enjoy this opportunity to get to know Pastor Paul Saas. He is excited to get to know each of you, Douglass church, and to worship alongside you. God has blessed me and surrounded me with quite a loving team. I am grateful for all of you.

Love, Pastor Janet
